Games are for kids
If games are for kids, why is the biggest selling game of the year an 18? This game is awesome, as a 28 year old there aren’t many things that excite me more than video games, and Gears of War 2 is no exception. The first game was a revelation the second a continuation of greatness, it’s full of action, guns, monsters, suspense and downright dirty fun, obviously this game is not for kids.
It’s true, Gears features a lot of blood and gore, come on, you chainsaw your enemies in half, so rightfully it has an 18 certificate. Will that stop kids playing? i doubt it. Guaranteed atop any Christmas list this year will be Gears of War 2, parents will be pandied into buying it, not bother about the content come Christmas morning as long as little jacky boy is smiling for the next 15 hours. This game isn’t for kids, but there’s no doubt they’ll play it, and love it.

In my experience the restrictions on underage people buying video games are a lot softer than for say films, alcohol, cigarettes etc. You see it all the time, the spotty uber-nerd behind the counter of Game more than happy to flog a disc full of guns, gore and sexual in-your-endo to kids of any age.
Considering the active involvement that the player has in the action compared to say watching reservoir dogs, surely the restrictions should be far tighter?
