Museum of London takes on a new identity

Here we have the old and the new logo, the old on the left, and the new on the right… one is bold, communicates well, has a classic and an arguably timeless design. The other is an ameoba with some DIN in the middle.

I read the press release and it said it was designed by ‘award winning agency…X’ – it seems winning awards doesn’t mean that much when it comes to design. With an institution i personally would have taken a Typographical approach, with clean lines and a block of colour, taking inspiration from Vince Frost or David Carson would be my first thought.

But then again, no one is paying me millions to colour in blobs.

It could have been worse. It could have been like the Olympic logo!

I think it’s an attempt to appeal to kids.
